Harvey Norman’s international sites – including Harvey Norman New Zealand, Harvey Norman Ireland, and Australian brands such as Domayne Furniture, Space Furniture, and Poliform – were originally built on a platform supporting only single-server environment. While the foundation served its purpose, the limitations quickly became apparent: performance bottlenecks, deployment delays, and a development process slowed by the size and complexity of the organisation.
A transition was made to a more flexible, white-labelled e-commerce platform. This opened the door to faster customisation, streamlined plugin development, and greater control over the experience delivered to each brand. The move laid the groundwork for further modernisation, with the platform later re-engineered to run on AWS as a highly available, cloud-based solution.
To support ongoing growth, a dedicated team was assembled to manage custom development, oversee cloud infrastructure, and provide brand-level support through peak trading periods. This combination of flexibility and operational robustness allowed Harvey Norman Group’s diverse portfolio of brands to scale their digital presence with confidence.
